A loan of $550 helped a member to purchase hybrid seed and fertilizer for the cultivation of millet and sorghum.

Agano Group's story

Pamela’s group has 14 farmers and is located in Kakamega North District. Pamela is pictured on the right of Agano Group with her hand raised. Pamela is pictured among the nine women and five men of her group. She will receive input loans capable of planting a half acre with sorghum and millet.

Pamela first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2010 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Pamela joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer.

Pamela described her harvest as good last year as a One Acre Fund farmer and hopes for another good year in the 2013 Long Rains season. She plans on using future profits from the harvest to send her children to school and buy a pig. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive a half acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Pamela’s group will receive 7 acres worth of inputs on credit.
