Charles is a member of the Achievers Group in Chwele District. He is pictured with 12 One Acre Fund farmers, 7 women and 5 men. Charles is standing on the right with his hand raised. He is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of millet and sorghum cultivation. Charles first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2010 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Charles joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family and will use the increased profits to send his children to school.

Prior to joining One Acre Fund, Charles was only able to harvest 4 bags of maize per ½ acre, but after joining One Acre Fund during the Long Rains 2012, he was able to harvest 14 bags per ½ acre! He plans on using future profits from the harvest to send his children to school and to save for the future. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Charles’s group will receive 6 acres worth of inputs on credit.
