Mwangaza Group's story

Mwangaza is a group of nine farmers in Chwele District, represented by Judith. The group has five women and four men. Judith is on the right side of the photo, with her hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to her on credit, consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ acre of sweet potato, millet and sorghum. Judith first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2011 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Judith joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family, and to use her increased profits to send her children to school.

Judith described her harvest as very good last year, but she believes she can have an even better one this year. She plans to use the money that she earns from her next harvest to send her children to school and to save for the future. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Mwangaza Group members will take input loans of ½ acre, each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 4.5 acres of land.
