Namo Group's story

Centrine is a member of Namo Group in Chwele District. She is pictured with 12 One Acre Fund farmers, 10 women and two men. Centrine is standing on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of sweet potato, millet, and sorghum cultivation. Centrine joined One Acre Fund during the long rains of 2012, and is now enrolling in the long rains 2013 season. Centrine joined One Acre Fund so that she could grow enough food for the family and use her increased profits to send her children to school. Centrine described her harvest as excellent last year as a One Acre Fund farmer and she hopes for another good year in the 2013 long rains season. She plans to use the money that she earns from her next harvest to send her children to school and repair her home. For the 2013 long rains season, Centrine’s group members will take input loans for ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on six acres of land. The field officer is standing on the left side of the photo.
