A loan of $1,200 helped to set up a coffee shop and purchase a generator.

Neang's story

Mr. Neang C. lives in Cambodia with his wife and four of their six children. To help support his large family, Mr. Neang works two jobs, one selling coffee and the other as a land dealer. His wife also works in their coffee business. The children also contribute to the household expenses. One is a garment worker, one a driver, and one works in a computer company.

Mr. Neang is requesting a loan of $1,200 to improve his business. One thousand dollars would go towards setting up a shop from which to run the coffee business. He has already begun construction on this shop. Additionally, he would like to use $200 to purchase a generator as lengthy blackouts are a common occurrence in many parts of Cambodia. Mr. Neang is pictured here with four of his children at the construction site of the coffee shop.
