Akuro Group's story

Akuro Group is located in Teso District. It is a group of 11 women and two men led by Pamela, who is pictured on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of sweet potato, millet, and sorghum cultivation. The 2013 long rains season will be Pamela’s first season with One Acre Fund. She joined this year in order to gain access to the best input prices for hybrid seed and fertilizer.

Pamela described her harvest last year as good, but hopes she can have an even better one as a One Acre Fund farmer. She hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send her children to school and buy cattle. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Pamela’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 6.5 acres of land.
