Darry Group's story

Darry is a group of 11 farmers in the Teso District represented by Benson. The group has 5 women and 6 men. Benson is on the right of the photo with his hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to him on credit consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ an acre of sweet potato, millet and sorghum. Benson first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2012 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Benson joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to the best input prices of hybrid seeds and fertilizer.

Benson described his harvest as good last year, but believes he can have an even better one this year. He plans to use the money that he earns from his next harvest to send his children to school and buy cattle. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Benson’s group will receive 5.5 acres worth of inputs on credit.
