Akiyuun Group's story

James is a member of Akiyuun Group in Teso District. He is pictured as one of 18 One Acre Fund farmers, 5 women and 13 men. James is standing on the right with his hand raised. He is receiving an input loan for a ½ acre of millet, sweet potatoes and sorghum cultivation.

James is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. He joined One Acre Fund in order to access the best input prices and grow enough food for the family.

James described his harvest last year as poor. He hopes as a One Acre Fund farmer that he is able to join the ranks of One Acre Fund farmers that have doubled their harvest in their first year of the program. He hopes that his profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send his children to school and save for the future.

For the 2013 Long Rains season, James' group members will take input loans for a ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 9 acres of land.
