Baraka Group's story

Fidelis’ group has 12 farmers and is located in the Teso District. Fidelis is pictured on the right of Baraka Group with her hand raised. Fidelis is pictured amongst the 3 men and 9 women of her group. She will receive input loans capable of planting ½ an acre with sorghum, sweet potatoes and millet. Fidelis joined One Acre Fund during the Long Rains 2012, and is now enrolling in the Long Rains 2013 season. Fidelis joined One Acre Fund so that she could be assured of reliable input delivery and access to the best input prices.

Fidelis reports that before One Acre Fund, she was able to grow about 2 bags of maize per ½ acre, but with her One Acre Fund input loan during Long Rains 2012, she harvested 9 bags per ½ acre! She hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send her children to school and to invest in a new cow. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Fidelis’ group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 6 acres of land.
