A loan of $550 helped to buy dinnerware and tables.

Blanca Josefina's story

Blanca is a very cheerful member of her communal bank. She has the gift of bringing forth a smile from even the saddest person. She's been a member of the communal bank "La Merced" for 7 years, and over this time she has established very strong bonds of friendship with all of her friends and neighbors. She lives in the Valle parish of Cuenca, a place where one can enjoy the green fields. The people here are kind and hardworking, and many of them work in farming, animal husbandry, and trade. Many also work in the city, in a variety of different occupations.

Blanca is 48 years old. She is divorced, but from her prior marriage she has 4 adult children. Two of her children are married, and the other two are single and live independently. She lives in a rented house, as she does not own a home.

Blanca is the owner of a small business. She prepares and sells food, an activity that she's been doing for 4 years. She works Monday through Friday from 7am until 4pm. She also works making aprons and painting decorative ceramic items.

She will invest this new loan in the purchase of new dinnerware and tables for her business.

Blanca's goal is to build her own home.
