A loan of $1,475 helped to buy organic fertilizer for her fields.

Delfina's story

Delfina is 32 years old, married, and has 2 daughters. She lives contentedly in her parent's house, surrounded by her parents, children, and husband. For 20 years, she has worked in cultivated fields and, for that reason, she grows potatoes, green peas, and beans. “It is profitable to sow beans and green peas because you don't have to invest as much as you do in potatoes,” she explains.

Delfina affirms that farm work is very tiring, and she has to put up with the rains and cold of her region. But such inconveniences do not stop her from continuing the struggle, because her daughters make it worthwhile. Sales are better in the national capital, therefore she travels there constantly, transporting vegetables and potatoes to the wholesale market.

Delfina hopes to be able to save a lot and acquire an automobile to facilitate her transport. And to do so, she will work with that same optimism.

This will be Delfina's 8th loan with Kiva and she gives her word that she will be punctual in making her monthly payments. Delfina will invest the 3,800 sols in purchasing organic manure to fertilize her plantings.
