A loan of $1,650 helped to buy raw materials (corn) and to do some improvements on his locale.

Hernán De Jesús's story

Hernán is 46 years old. He is an enterprising man who has fought ceaselessly to seek for opportunities to offer a better present and future to his three children. Thanks to his hard work, sacrifice and many years of work, Hernán today works independently in an arepa factory that he started five years ago. Now he has an employee (she is in the photograph) who works every day from eight in the morning until five in the afternoon.

His biggest dream is for his business to keep growing in order to make it into a source of employment for his community. Right now, he is gaining business in the area where he lives and he distributes his product in several stores and supermarkets. In order to fill orders, he is asking for a loan that he will use to buy raw materials and to do some improvements in his locale that are required for hygiene.

He hopes that with his work he can guarantee his family a better quality of life and a college education for his children.
