A loan of $400 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Nancy's story

Nancy, 23, is married to Edner, with whom she has two children, Wilian and Franco. She lovingly takes care of them in the house they bought six years ago.

She has earned her living in agriculture for five years. Her main crops are peas, potatoes, and beans, which she plants on her own plots of land in the town closest to her home. She rents some land during the planting season, though, so she can have a bigger crop.

What she likes most about her job is being able to sell her harvests in her town markets, where she gets good buyers. She also likes to see her fields grow because it's a sign of a good harvest.

In a few months she'll begin to harvest the peas, so she's thinking about planting potatoes to get good consecutive crops in each farming season. This is her fourth Kiva loan and she promises to be punctual with her payments.

Nancy will invest the 1000 soles [PEN] in organic fertilizer to spread on her fields.
