A loan of $1,250 helped to buy precious metals (gold, silver, and steel), and to improve his machinery.

Benito Ramón's story

Benito, age 46, is single and has four children. He has a jewelry business called “Joyería Granados” where he devotes himself to procuring gold. He sells gold in the form of bracelets, rings, chains, and earrings, among others.

He also has a grinding mill to process mined earth and produce gold. He buys the mined earth by the ton at a mine in his area. He started this business 31 years ago with help from his father. He was the proprietor of another jewelry business where Benito learned the business.

Due to financial problems, he did not continue his education, but he was able to start his own business. He is well known in his area for his business activity.

Benito is requesting this loan to buy gold, silver, and steel. He will also use the loan to improve his machinery. He is grateful to the Kiva lenders for the help they provide to small businesspeople in poor countries like Nicaragua so that they can have a decent way of earning a living.
