A loan of $775 helped to buy chisels, paintbrushes, wood and other carpentry materials.

Merlita's story

Merlita is 39 years old and is married to Jorge. Together they have two children, ages 20 and 12. She lives with her husband and children in their own home, which they managed to build through their own hard work.

Merlita works in carpentry. She has worked for five years in a workshop near her home. Merlita buys the wood she needs and transports it to the workshop. She then sands the pieces of wood before they are joined to make home and office furniture.

Merlita believes that she already has the basic knowledge to carry out this work by herself, and she hopes to gradually open up her own workshop. She says she likes carpentry because it allows her enough time to be home to care for her children without having to neglect her work. She also likes the earnings she receives, which allow her to help her husband.

Merlita is requesting this loan of 2000 PEN to buy chisels, paintbrushes, wood and other carpentry materials that she uses to make furniture. She says she is very happy to know she has financial support that will allow her to move ahead with her business.
