Nyati Group's story

David’s group is made up of 18 farmers and is located in Teso District. David is pictured on the right, with his hand raised. He is pictured amongst the nine men and nine women of his group.

David will receive an input loan capable of planting ½ an acre of land with sorghum, millet, and sweet potatoes.

He first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2012 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. David joined One Acre Fund in order to rest assured of reliable input delivery and grow enough food for the family.

David reports that before One Acre Fund, he was able to grow about 1 bag of maize per ½ acre, but with his One Acre Fund input loan during Long Rains 2012, he harvested 10 bags per ½ acre!

He plans to use the money that he earns from his next harvest to repair his home and perhaps save for the future. For the 2013 Long Rains season, David’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on nine acres of land.
