Eden Group's story

Joshua is pictured on the right with his hand raised amongst his Eden Group members. The 15 of them, 9 women and 6 men, are farmers in Kakamega North District. Farming inputs will be delivered to him on credit consisting of the necessary materials to plant a half acre of millet and sorghum. Joshua is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. He joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family and use increased profits to send his children to school.

Last year, Joshua harvested 15 bags of maize on an acre of land. He is excited to improve his harvest as a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. He hopes that his profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send his children to school and save for the future. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive a half acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Joshua’s group will receive 7 1/2 acres worth of inputs on credit.
