Nguvu Group's story

Nguvu Group is located in Kakamega North District. It is a group of seven women and three men, led by Rosemary, who is pictured on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of millet and sorghum cultivation. Rosemary is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. She joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family and use her increased profits to send her children to school.

Rosemary managed to harvest 2 1/2 bags of maize on 1 1/2 acres of land last year. As a One Acre Fund farmer, she hopes to harvest much more! She hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send her children to school and to save for the future. Nguvu Group members will each receive input loans of ½ acre during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total, they will receive inputs for 5 acres of millet and sorghum.
