A loan of $650 helped to buy coconuts and carbonated beverages.

Juana Julia's story

The communal bank Esfuerzo y Poder [Effort and Power] meets every fifteen days in the canton of Olmedo, a place known for its beautiful landscapes and for its hardworking people, who make a living in agriculture and raising animals.

Juana lives here. She is fifty-eight years old, is married, and has six children who are older and independent. Her husband is a tradesman.

Juana is a very good wife and requests the loan for the business of her husband. Her husband makes a living selling coconut water and carbonated beverages. He has a cart that he uses to sell these refreshments every day in the center of the city. He has worked every day for more than twenty years in this business. Through this honest and hard work, he has been able to move his family ahead.

This loan will be used to buy coconuts and carbonated beverages. Juana has been a member of the communal bank since its beginning, and she likes it because the loans, little by little, have allowed her to construct her house.

Her dream is to completely finish her home.
