A loan of $1,000 helped to buy sorghum and feed for their chickens and cattle.

Maria Nicolasa's story

María makes a living raising chickens and cattle. She is married and has three children aged 20, 22, and 24. They all study and are dependent on her, as they have no family living abroad. María works from 6:00am to 4:00pm, and inherited her work from her parents ten years ago. The advantage of this is that she has her own land with grass for the cattle and space for a farm.

She needs the loan to buy sorghum and feed for her chicken and cattle. This loan will help her with her business, as it will enable her to increase the productivity of her chickens to then sell them on and buy cattle. The risks she faces are any illnesses her chickens may suffer and the high cost of cattle feed.
