A loan of $50 helped to pay for 10 low-cost LED lights to resell to rural households without electricity.

Pascal's story

Pascal is a 36-year-old man from Rwamagana District in the Eastern Province of Rwanda. He is seeking an additional loan of $50 to purchase 10 rechargeable LED lights, which he will resell to people without electricity in his village. Every week or so, these customers will return to him to have their lights recharged for just $0.20. Pascal started selling lights in June, 2011, and he has sold 50 lights to date, providing clean energy to 250 people. He will reinvest the money he makes into buying more lights to earn more money for himself and his wife.
