A loan of $1,225 helped to buy rice, sugar, oil, flour, toilet paper, beans and soap.

Romel Santiago's story

Romel Santiago is originally from the municipality of El Sauce, is married and originally from a very humble and hard-working family who have spent the majority of their lives in commerce.

He started his business five years ago with the sale of small amounts of soap and candy, but thanks to the various loans that Kiva has financed for him through Ceprodel, today he has a well-stocked grocery store and he was able to acquire a motorcycle taxi with which he offers taxi services to the residents of his municipality and its visitors.

It should be noted that he works together with his wife. When he leaves to offer rides in the moto taxi she stays and attends to the store. His business is very busy with the residents of the El Pedernal neighborhood because of the variety of products it offers and its customer friendliness.

He is currently requesting a loan to stock said business with rice, sugar, oil, flour, toilet paper, beans and soap, since Semana Santa (Easter week) is coming up. He is thankful to Kiva and Ceprodel for the support they have provided him all this time since he has succeeded economically thanks to these loans and he hopes that they continue supporting him in the future.
