A loan of $775 helped to buy clothes for children and adults.

Hilda's story

Hilda, 53, is a widow who has two children and has lived in a rented house, located in Pampas, for 26 years. In order to support her home and be independent, she started selling all kinds of clothes six years ago. She is successful because she offers season clothing, i.e. winter, summer or autumn clothes. Hilda travels constantly to Lima to buy imported clothes, and some times, her customers order them in advance.

Hilda believes this is a profitable business, because there are few stores offering good quality and stylish garments in her locality, so she has no competition. She hopes to be able to open her own store in the future, a place where she can display her clothes since now she has to sell from home.

This is Hilda’s second loan with Kiva and she feels grateful for this financial help she is receiving to continue with her work. Hilda will invest the 2000 soles [PEN] in assorted clothes for children, men and women. In particular, she will buy sweaters, since it is cold now and her customers have already ordered some.
