A loan of $400 helped to buy corrugated iron roofing for the workshop.

Felicita's story

50-year-old Felicita is a hard-working woman. She lives in the company of Sebastian, her husband of 25 years. They have 7 children together, but only 4 of them live with them in the house that they bought 16 years ago. She is an optimist, despite being sick and not able to walk well. Before, she worked in programs promoted by the government cleaning parks and gardens and constructing paths and trails. There she received a monthly salary that helped her support her family. She knows that she will return to work, since she is a fighting woman and is recuperating well. At the moment, she supports herself with her food sales business on holidays in her home, in addition to frequently selling vegetables in the city market. However, the principal income for the household is from her husband who works as a welder in his own workshop. In the beginning, it was difficult to start the business, but the constant support that she provided helped him to realize his dream and get the income that they have today. Now he hopes to improve the infrastructure of his workshop, since the rain makes his work difficult. This is the third loan with Kiva, whose collaboration they await in order to bring about their plans. Felicita will invest the 1000 new Peruvian soles in the purchase of corrugated iron to improve the workshop roof.
