Muungano Group's story

Rose is a member of the Muungano Group in Kakamega North District. She is pictured with 11 One Acre Fund farmers, 9 women and 2 men. Rose is standing on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of sweet potato, millet, and sorghum cultivation. Rose is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. She joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and to grow enough food for the family.

Rose described her harvest last year as good, but hopes she can have an even better one as a One Acre Fund farmer. She hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send her children to school and repair her home. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Rose's group will receive 5.5 acres worth of inputs on credit.
