Mwangaza Group's story

Martha is a member of the Mwangaza Group in Kakamega North District. She is pictured with 10 One Acre Fund farmers, 7 women and 3 men. Martha is standing on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of sweet potato, millet, and sorghum cultivation. Martha is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. She joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to get the best prices on hybrid seed and fertilizer.

Martha described her harvest last year as good, but hopes she can have an even better one as a One Acre Fund farmer. She hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send her children to school and repair her home. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Martha’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 5 acres of land.
