Adama's story

Madame Adama is a 31 year old married women and mother of two children. She lives with her husband and her children in the Torakabougou area of Bougouni.
After her secondary studies, when she received a diploma in art, she remained jobless for a long time.
In order to enter the local economy, she decided to take an interest in revenue generating activities such as sales, selling clothing, fabric, and hair extensions, a business that she learned alongside her twin sister.
With eleven years of experience, she has mastered this business in which she is well respected. In hopes of satisfying her growing customer base, she decided to join the loan program at Soro Yiriwaso in order to buy 10 pagnes (colorful wax cloth) and 30 packages of hair extensions. She stocks up in Lome and Bamako, the capital of Mali.
Her merchandise is sold for cash in the area and on credit to some government employees. Her clientele is made up mostly of women. She is on her fourth loan with Soro Yiriwaso and her previous loans have all been repaid in full. With this loan, she counts on make a monthly profit of 40,000XOF.
With the profits generated by this loan, she envisions growing her business and providing for some household expenses.
