Saron is 26 and married with three children. Her family lives in a village of the Dambae district of Kampong Cham province, and she and her husband earn a living through growing cassava and raising pigs. She and her husband work for others for a fee to earn additional income for the family. The current business earns her approximately 16 USD per day; she manages to save about 6 USD each day after daily expenses.
Saron is an existing client of VisionFund who has received previous loans for one cycle. The past loan helped relieve her family's financial burden to a great extent. She is now requesting a loan to buy fertilizer for her farmland and use a portion of it to spend planting rubber trees to earn extra income for her family. She hopes this loan will enable her to grow cassava as well as rubber trees.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
