Gladys Teresa's story

Sra. Gladys is taking out her second loan alongside her friends and fellow group members of the “María Reina de La Paz” (Mary, Queen of Peace) Communal Bank. She enjoys the camaraderie and the solidarity among all of the group members. Gladys lives in the city of Cuenca, which is surrounded by four rivers. There are several places where one can enjoy the natural beauty. The people have preserved their culture, their traditions, and their rich cuisine.

Sra. Gladys is 42 years old, married, and has three children (ages 19, 15, and 10). Her oldest daughter is studying at the university. The second child, a son, is in high school. Her youngest daughter attends an elementary school in the city. Her husband is an engineer by profession and works in the mining industry. They live in a rental property since they do not own a house.

Doña Gladys devotes herself to the household chores and looking after her family. In order to help her husband with the household expenses, she sells clothing through catalogs. She has been in business for 16 years. Her new loan will be invested in the purchase of trousers, blouses, T-shirts, and jackets. Gladys has a goal of opening her own boutique.
