A loan of $400 helped to buy compost for his crops.

Hugo's story

Hugo, 49, is married and has three children that live in the house he inherited three years ago. He has different activities, but mainly agriculture and livestock farming. Hugo says that thanks to his parents, he has today large areas where he grows different crops, like corn, green peas and alfalfa, which he sells in the city of Tarma, making good profits.

Hugo hopes to soon be able to increase the working capital he has, now that he wants to sow more hectares and take advantage of the high seasons for corn. This is his third loan with Kiva and he promises to pay the installments on time. Hugo will invest the 1000 soles [PEN] in buying compost to nurture his crops.
