A loan of $1,175 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Alejandro's story

Alejandro is 55 years old, married to Albina, and has three children. He owns a home constructed of wood which he shares with his family.

Alejandro works growing organic cocoa but initially worked as a field laborer but thanks to his work and savings has been buying land to use entirely for the product offering the best economic livelihood in the region. This is why for ten years he has been working with the support of laborers who work doing various collective and indispensable tasks, despite his plot being located some distance from the city which makes it difficult to transport the extracted cocoa beans.

He is halfway through the harvest season so it is necessary not to neglect constant maintenance which requires working capital. He has a long-term goal of buying a vehicle with which to transport his merchandise. This is his first Kiva loan, and he shows his thankfulness by committing to making his payments on time.

Alejandro wants to use the 3,000 soles to buy organic fertilizer and to proceed contracting workers for the weeding of his fields.
