A loan of $375 helped to construct a concrete slab.

Wendy Guadalupe's story

Wendy is a young person from Monclova, but she has lived nearly all her life in Piedras Negras. She has been living in this locality for twenty years.

Despite her young age, since she was little and a minor, she has been clear that to succeed you have to work. She started in a publishing house in this city where she volunteered her services as a street-seller selling newspapers. Currently she works in a textile factory as an operator, helping her family with the household expenses.

In 1997 she and her family were the victims of a flood where her home was completely destroyed, and with support from the government they were given a new house but it only had two rooms. With effort they have managed to expand it; for this reason she is applying for support through KIVA so she can install a concrete slab where her room will be. Her aim is to set up her house because in time it will be the home of her future children.
