Katherin's story

Katherin has a juice stand. Her level of education is secondary school. She lives in her parents’ house occupying two rooms with brick walls and wood floor in the city of La Paz. Katherin sells juices made from oats with milk, quinoa, flax and wilcaparu [type of maize]. Many people believe it’s healthier to consume fresh, natural juices that are made on the spot like the ones she makes. The advantage of consuming such juices is that people are less exposed to harmful products containing conservatives and chemicals that can affect their health. She sells her products from 5am until 8am and her main customers are university students and people who are headed to work. As a result, the public consumer is getting a much cleaner product.

Katherin’s work makes it possible for her to cover food, utility and other costs. She needs the loan to buy ingredients like quinoa, oats, sugar, flax and wilcaparu at wholesale thus to increase her income and as a result her quality of life too. Katherin’s dream is that her business grows.
