A loan of $400 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Rosa's story

Rosa, 45, is married to Amancio, with whom she has three beautiful daughters. They live together in the house they bought several years ago. Rosa makes a living growing regional fruit such as apples, bananas, oranges, melons, peaches, passion fruit, and dried fruits, which she sells in the store attached to her house. She has had this business an average of seven years. What she likes most about growing and selling fruit, however, is that her children can be with her and that she takes care of their nourishment by eating what she sells. "Selling fruit has enabled me to build my house, educate my children, and cover the household expenses," Rosa said, summarizing that her business is very profitable for her. She plans to expand her business in the future and stock it with a greater variety of fruit to satisfy her customers. This is her third Kiva loan and she's grateful for the financial support given to her to continue with her job. Rosa will invest the 1000 soles [PEN] in organic fertilizer to nourish her fruit.
