A loan of $625 helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of sweet potatoes, millet, and sorghum.

Ageun Group's story

Joseph’s group has 16 farmers and is located in Teso District. Joseph is pictured on the right of Ageun Group with his hand raised. Joseph is pictured amongst the seven men and nine women of his group. He will receive input loans capable of planting ½ an acre with sorghum, millet, and Sweet Potato. The 2013 Long Rains season will be Joseph’s first season with One Acre Fund. He joined this year in order to gain access to best input prices of hybrid seeds and fertilizer and to improve his living standards.

Joseph thought his harvest last year was poor. He hopes that as a One Acre Fund farmer he can have an excellent harvest. He plans on using future profits from the harvest to send his children to school and to repair his home. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Joseph’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 8 acres of land.
