Aleles Group's story

Nicholas is a member of Aleles Group in Teso District. He is pictured with 11 One Acre Fund farmers, seven women and four men. Nicholas is standing on the right with his hand raised. He is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of sweet potato, millet, and sorghum cultivation. Nicholas is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. He joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family and to use increased profits to send his children to school.

Nicholas thought his harvest last year was poor. He hopes that as a One Acre Fund farmer he can have an excellent harvest. He plans to use the money that he earns from his next harvest to send his children to school and perhaps save for the future. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Nicholas’ group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 5.5 acres of land.
