A loan of $400 helped to buy cashew fruits.

Djata's story

Djata, aged 30, is married and lives in Banconi, one of the working-class neighborhoods of the city of Sikasso (third administrative region of the republic of Mali). Her nuclear family consists of herself, her husband and a daughter.

After being involved in many unsuccessful activities, Djata learned from a neighbor how to buy and sell cashew fruits in order to extract cashew nuts.

Djata works from home. Her products are in high demand because of their high quality. She buys her merchandise in bulk quantities and resells to a retail customer base. In order to satisfy the needs of an increasing number of customers, she decided to join Soro Yiriwaso, with which she is taking her second individual loan.

Djata is planning to use her loan to buy 10 bags of cashew fruits from which she will extract good quality cashew nuts. Thanks to this loan, she is expecting monthly profits to reach 90,000 CFA francs, which will be used to contribute to the family's expenses and to pay off her loan's interest. The rest of the money will be reinvested in her activity.
