Ekua

Ghana
Cape Coast, Ghana / Food Production/Sales

A loan of $225 helped to buy more maize, henceforth allowing her to produce more kenkey to sell.

Ekua's story

Although she has received no formal education, Ekua is an entrepreneur. She sells kenkey (a traditional corn-based dish that is wrapped in banana leaves) in Akonoma (near Cape Coast). She has been selling kenkey for three years.

As a single mother having to raise four children, Ekua is responsible for supporting the entire family. Her loan will be used to buy more maize, henceforth allowing her to produce more kenkey to sell.

Ekua hopes to use the new profits from her business to develop her kenkey enterprise further.
