Magdalena's story

Magdalena is married with five children and all her children go to school. She also takes care of additional family members (elderly parents). She has a business selling charcoal and has been in this business for one year. She has applied for a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan shillings from MCDT-SACCO to buy more bags of charcoal and generates additional income from rental rooms. She works at the market seven days out of every week and sells on a retail basis only. Her major business challenges include seasonality, thieves, and defaulters. She aspires to sell wholesale only, to educate her children up to university, and to get enough profits to build rental rooms. She resides in her own house and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses includes school fees and feeding her family.
