Saraswati is 42 years old and married. She lives in house made of mud, with her husband and two children, in a rural village of the Jajpur district in Odisha, India. She and her husband earn a living by farming rice and vegetables that they sell in the market. Having been in this business for ten years, she manages to earn about 5,000 INR per month and can save about 2,000 INR each month for future needs.

This is a group loan for Maa Biranchi Narayani Self Help Group of ten women. The members of this group are engaged in different kinds of activities. Some of them are managing grocery shops and others are doing farming.

Saraswati is leading her group to apply for a loan. She wants to use her loan portion to buy fertilizers, seeds and pesticides for her farmland.
