Pao is 32 years old and lives with his long-term partner in Kompong Speu province. Together, they have one child who will be enrolled in school soon. Pao is in the business of farming rice just for an income, which hardly seems to fulfill his family's daily necessities. Additionally, he works to provide construction services with his team around the province. Due to the lack of a motorcycle for daily travelling and commuting, Pao decided to borrow a loan through HKL, one of Kiva partners, to purchase a motorbike for personal use. Also, he will utilize the rest of the fund to pay for laborers who are constructing his house. Last time, Pao just owned a palm house that was not comfortable for his family. Pao thanks the lenders that enable him to continuously develop his living standard. His dream is to work a lot for the well-being of his family.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
