A loan of $600 helped to buy materials to make doors and windows.

Nelson's story

Nelson, 42, is a hard worker. He lives in the house he inherited 19 years ago with his wife María and two sons, Cristian and Luis, whom they care for. Ten years ago, he began working as a locksmith, a difficult profession to undertake in his town because there was little need to remodel doors and windows. Slowly, he built a client base, and now he is contracted to make and place the metal accessories in every building or remodeling project. His workshop is in his house, where he works without a break until he has finished his orders. He wants to improve his business and be able to fill more orders by buying better equipment. This is his first loan cycle with KIVA. He is grateful for the support and promises to make his payments on time. Nelson will use the S/. 1500 soles to buy a variety of materials such as steel and iron to make doors and windows.
