A loan of $975 helped purchase ingredients and utensils to cook with.

Lucila's story

Lucila is 44 years old, she is married and has six children who all live in her house, along with her husband. Lucila's work consists in selling food items. She has her own storefront that she was able to obtain after many years of hard work. She began selling food on the sidewalk in front of her house, where she set up a table, a couple of chairs and a modest kitchen from which she served her customers. She currently has a larger location with a larger number of tables, where she offers a larger variety of foods in the Peruvian tradition. Before, she was working alone, but now she has two other people working for her. She has been working in this business for 2 years and she is happy with how things are going.
She likes her work, and in the morning, she uses part of her time to do other things in her house and to take care of other obligations that her business needs to run smoothly. Fortunately, she has customers every day because she is located in a very accessible place and this helps her to grow her earnings on a daily basis and to bring better living conditions to her family. She is even in the process of expanding and remodeling her locale and she hopes to finish the work as soon as possible.
This is her fourth loan with Kiva and she is very happy to know that she has the financial support that will allow her to continue to work with a peace of mind. For her part, she promises to repay her loan on time. With the amount she is asking for, she will purchase ingredients like rice, meats, eggs, among other things, as well as cooking utensils that she will use in her restaurant.
