Luis Emilio's story

Luis, 48, is single and has three children, one of whom lives independently and the other two are students. He was born in the town of Loja, where he finished high school. His doesn't receive support from his partner and is solely responsible for his children, for whom he has provided through hard work. In recent years, he has lived with his children in Río Verde de Santo Domingo parish, the capital of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas province in Ecuador.
The province has seen sustained growth, and its capital is known for its delicious, colorful fruits and cuisine. There is significant commerce because the area has become a trading center between the country's mountain and coastal areas. There are beautiful sites where the weather is warm that attract both local and foreign tourists. Most of the residents are merchants or service providers to the locals and tourists.

Luis sells shoes, especially in rural areas. He learned the business from relatives and has been working alone for 20 years. He needs a loan to buy merchandise to offer his customers. His earnings will grow, and he will be able to offer his children a better life. He will also save part of his profits so that he one day can buy a vehicle to visit his customers and to see more areas of the country with his children.

Luis encourages lenders around the world to finance the dreams of hardworking entrepreneurs like himself, so that they keep believing in people far away. Surely, the support of these people will help the borrowers grow as people. This is his first loan cycle with Fundación Alternativa. He expects to keep working with the institution, as his brother is a client and recommends the institution.
