A loan of $600 helped to buy sewing supplies like fabrics, buttons and elastics.

Rosa's story

Rosa, 34, is a single mother. Her son is nine years old, and they live together in their own house. Rosa tailors garments and she has a workshop at home, where her customers come to fix their worn out clothes, or to make special orders. Rosa has two sewing machines and an overlock machine, bought with her savings. She has worked in this activity for eleven years. When the demand is low she works alone, but sometimes she needs to hire two assistants. Rosa has always liked to sew and loves her job; she enjoys designing and creating. During low-demand seasons she goes out and sells her designs. She hopes to have a well-equipped workshop in the future and to expand her business to become a supplier of one of the large stores in town. This is Rosa’s fifth loan with Kiva. She appreciates the financial support that people have given her, necessary to realize her plans. She promises to pay the installments on time. This time, she is requesting 1500 nuevos soles [PEN] to buy different materials like buttons, silk laces, different color threads, elastics and fabrics.
