Lununi Group's story

Lununi, represented by Lindison, is a group of 12 farmers in Kakamega North District. The group has 10 women and 2 men. Lindison is on the right of the photo with his hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to him on credit consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ acre of millet and sorghum. Lindison first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2009 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Lindison joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and grow enough food for the family.

Lindison reports that before One Acre Fund, he was able to grow about 6 bags of maize per ½ acre, but with his One Acre Fund input loan during Long Rains 2012, he harvested 10 bags per 1/2 acre! He plans on using future profits from the harvest to buy a cow and send his children to school. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Lindison’s group will receive 6 acres worth of inputs on credit.
