Sisa Group's story

Sisa is a group of 15 farmers in the Webuye District. The group has 13 women and 2 men. The group is represented by Henrietah. Henrietah is on the right of the photo with her hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to her on credit, consisting of the necessary materials to plant half an acre of sweet potatoes, millet, and sorghum. Henrietah first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2012 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Henrietah joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for her family and to learn better farming techniques.

Henrietah described her last year's harvest as very good, but believes she can have an even better one this year. She hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to buy cattle and perhaps save for the future. Henrietah’s group members will each receive input loans of half an acre during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total they will receive inputs for 7.5 acres of sweet potatoes, millet, and sorghum.
