Ematiete Group's story

Ematiete is a group of 14 farmers in Kakamega North District. The group is represented by Belinda. The group has 10 women and 4 men. Belinda is on the right of the photo with her hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to her on credit, consisting of the necessary materials to plant half an acre of sweet potatoes, millet, and sorghum. Belinda joined One Acre Fund during the Long Rains of 2011, and is now enrolling in the Long Rains of 2013 season. Belinda joined One Acre Fund so that she could access the best input prices and grow enough food for her family.

Belinda described her harvest as good last year as a One Acre Fund farmer and hopes for another good year in the 2013 Long Rains season. She hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send her children to school and save for the future. Belinda’s group members will each receive input loans of half an acre during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total they will receive inputs for 7 acres of sweet potatoes, millet, and sorghum.
