A loan of $525 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland.

Soery's Group's story

Living in a thatched roof house in a rural village of the Moung Russey district of Battambang province in Cambodia, Soery is 55 years old and married.

She and her husband have one son. She and her husband earn a living through rice farming and also through working for others for a fee and they have been in this business for 10 years. With her current business, she is able to earn approximately 14,000KHR per day to support her family. This is the fifth loan for Soery with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. She has successfully paid back the past loans which have helped her better support her family with enough food. Now she is leading her group to ask for another loan of 1,000,000KHR each. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland and use a portion of it to spend on the labor costs in plowing her field. She hopes to increase her crop yield and sell it for a good price so as to improve her lifestyle.
