Baraka Group's story

Baraka Group has 18 farmers and is located in Webuye District. The group is represented by John, pictured on the right of Baraka Group with his hand raised. There are 6 men and 12 women in the group. John will receive input loans capable of planting ½ an acre with sorghum, millet, and sweet potato. John joined One Acre Fund during the Long Rains 2012, and is now enrolling in the Long Rains 2013 season. He joined One Acre Fund so that he could grow enough food for the family and use increased profits to send his children to school.

John described his harvest as very good last year, but he believes he can have an even better one this year. He plans on using future profits from the harvest to send his children to school and, perhaps, save for the future. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre's worth of agricultural inputs on credit. Baraka Group will receive 9 acres' worth of inputs, on credit.
